MARLBOROUGH - Michele Renee Ledoux has been chosen to participate in Paradise City Marlborough, a highly competitive, juried contemporary craft and fine art show, scheduled for March 18, 19 and 20 at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough.

Ledoux, a former Marlborough resident who is the daughter of two former Marlborough City Councilors, will bring a collection of mixed media and printmaking to the show.

A 1986 graduate of Marlborough High School, Michele remembers her days at MHS being the starting pitcher for varsity softball, junior class president and homecoming queen. She is the daughter of Joan E. Ledoux and the late Robert A. Ledoux, both born and raised in Marlborough and both having served as Marlborough City Councilors. In addition, Joan taught at MHS for 32 years and Robert was at one time the Marlborough Postmaster.

Today, Michele, a 1990 graduate of the University of Colorado, lives and has a studio in, Evergreen, Colo. and has become a member of the National Association of Women Artists in New York City and the Monotype Guild of New England.

She was the "Best of Show" award winner in the 2010 Highland Park Festival of Fine Craft in Evergreen, Colo.

Recently, a collection of her work was put on display in the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center, Boston, where it will remain through May 2011.

It is the third time that her works have been featured at Mass General and her mother and many friends attended the 2011 Opening Reception on Feb. 15.

Now she returns this weekend for the Paradise City Marlborough show, where she can be found at Booth 219.

Twice a year, Paradise City hosts a show in Marlborough where it showcases some of America's most prominent craftsmen and artists.

Homeowners, collectors, galleries and decorators use the event to select studio furniture, art glass, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and paintings in addition to the mixed media and printmaking that Michele will bring to the show.

"Free from commitment to any single style," explained Michele, "my work reflects an ever-evolving organic synthesis of mixed media in two separate, but intimately connected bodies of work." The two mixed media works shown in today's Sampler will be on display and for sale at Paradise City Marlborough.

"The mixed media actually incorporates encaustic (beeswax + damar resin) painting which is an ancient technique," said Michele, adding, "The printwork is also unique in that it incorporates the 'solarplate technique' which involves exposing a sun-sensitive plate to the sun."

In addition, Michele will have many more works available for sale, including prints, at the Paradise City show as limited edition fine art prints.

"This is a very high end reproduction of the original work printed on archival paper and includes a certificate of authenticity," explained Michele. Paradise City (like many higher end shows), only allows for the hanging of "original" work. "

All limited editions must be matted, mounted and displayed in a bin," said Michele." "So, that will be the case here."

Michele will also be displaying her works of art March 24-27 at Craft Boston, Boston; April 1-3 at Craft Newyork, New York City; and May 28-30 at Paradise City Northampton. The Paradise City Marlborough show will be held at the Royal Plaza Trade Center, 181 Boston Post Road West, (Rte. 20 West).

Admission is $12, general admission; $10, seniors; $8, students; children under 12, free; 3-day pass, $15. The hours are Friday, March 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, March 20, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
