critical overview

Kimberly D. Moore, Curator  |  Evergreen Fine Art, Evergreen, CO  |  2009
Michele Renée Ledoux’s body of work, “alchemy of align,” is masterful and thought provoking.

With her unique combination of printmaking, painting, drawing and photography, she has created harmony that goes beyond metaphor.

The beauty of her work lies in the various techniques of her artistic expression. Her work has an inviting quality, which becomes more revealing each time it is viewed.

It is like discovering the soul. “[A]lchemy of align” celebrates the variety of metaphoric expression that underlies and connects us all.

“Michele Renée Ledoux, young American artist/photographer, through her photos, reveals secrets, mysteries, stories, traces of life and poetry. She’s able to freely employ and deploy her memories, her thoughts and her sensations in order to get as close as possible to the psychological sphere: those feelings, emotions and moods that make up our spiritual dimensions.

Ledoux feels the impulsive desire to stop realities and objects belonging to quotidian images, filling them with magic, rarefied, lyric effects and revealing to us details of a nature soaked with poetical aspects that often slip from us.

Ledoux with her photos shows of being an author who doesn’t pursue the objective fidelity in the photographic reproduction of nature and objects that become the subjects of her photos, but it is her eyes, her mind and all her baggage made of emotions and experiences that bring her to utilize the photographic object as subjective expressive medium, also searching the communication with the spectators with whom she will share her own visions and interpretations of the surrounding reality and truth stopped in an eternal moment.

Ledoux has developed a very personal photographic research that she continues exploring and elaborating with new and renovated creativity and power. As an art-critic, I would also like to emphasize how the poetic, emotional and artistic component of her photography remains a powerful and suggestive constant while at the same time her photographic and technical sensibility which help her to achieve intense and refined artistic results is equally important.”

Michele Renee Ledoux’s artwork reveals secrets. Not only her eye, but her soul and spirit unharness Truth, Wisdom, Life and Passion. She discloses—through paint, photography and word—what natural and human-made objects wait for others to embrace. Ledoux seems to have a tacit understanding with creation and illuminates its powerful messages, so tethered minds can surmount boundaries and soar with Understanding and Vision. Ledoux’s work elicits feeling and introspection. Her musings cannot be dismissed as they are Spirit speaking—revealing Self to Self. Her artwork gives permission, for all who are open, to see what they could see if they look through their hearts to the World.

Is it her intense love and study of philosophy and eastern religion, or her travels to over twenty countries that has allowed Ledoux to answer ethereal questions? Is it having been raised near the flowing water, outside Boston, and now residing in the powerful Rocky Mountains in Colorado, which has exposed her to the Depth and Promise, to the Fragility and Tenacity, of Nature? What allows Ledoux’s abstract expressionism to invite others to see what is and has always been? To Question, Wonder, Feel...

Michele Renée Ledoux is a photographer of the texture of secrets. Her very tactile works are beds of revelation, seeking to impart the essence of Salvation.
